Hamanako SA, a beautiful rest area.

Who says a Highway Tomei SA can't be beautiful?

Check out Hamanako SA, located on the bay of Lake Hamana. It has lovely scenic views of the bay. Frequently visited by those long-distance travelers taking a break from their long drive, and locals who just want to unwind and sightseeing.

Hamanako SA has a superb view overlooking Lake Hamana. The tiredness of driving is blown away at once.

What's more impressive is that Hamanako SA has a "Lover's sanctuary", complete with a sacred bell altar and heart locks gate, where a couple writes their name on a lock and hangs it on the gate. Something I didn't expect to be built into a service area in the middle of a highway.

Hamanako is a Pretty popular SA. Visited by many people, there are also many shops here! Lake Hamana is famous for its eels, so it might be good to have eels here.

Hamanako SA is also a good place for a stroll. You can even walk your dogs here, lots of people come with their pets, but don't forget to always pick up after them. The parking lot is wide, and there are many parking spots for big trucks and buses making it a perfect place to take a break after a long tiring journey.

Hamanako SA has various restaurants, a food court, and food stalls. The food court is over viewing lake Hamana. You can enjoy your delicious meal and the beautiful scenery at the same time.

It is one of the best scenic areas in Japan, you should definitely stop by on a sunny day. During the sakura season, there are many sakura trees in Hamanako SA. There is even a departure and arrival station for sightseeing boats.
