Okusa Mountain Plum Garden is a beautiful and peaceful place located in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is a beautiful place near Hamana lake. If you are looking for a calm and quiet spot to enjoy nature, this garden is the perfect place to visit. It’s not as famous as some other tourist spots in Japan, but it’s a hidden gem that offers a special experience. When I walked into the garden, I smelled the sweet plum blossoms. These blossoms are one of the first flowers to bloom in Japan, making them an early sign that spring is coming. The photos in this post were taken on March 1st, and the blossoms are expected to become even more beautiful in the coming days. We encourage everyone to come and enjoy the garden.
The garden is open from early February to mid-March. The plum trees have pink, dark pink, and white flowers. It looks very pretty, creating a stunning display. The garden is a calm place to relax and think. Many people like it, both people who live nearby and visitors. They enjoy the bright colors and nice smell of the plum blossoms. This garden shows us how important it is to enjoy and take care of nature. Plum trees are important in Japanese culture. They symbolize strength and hope because they bloom in the cold weather, even before other flowers like cherry blossoms. It’s a reminder that even in tough times, life continues to grow and change.
One special part of my visit was the view from Mt. Okusa Observatory. From there, I saw the whole garden. I also saw Lake Hamana in the distance. It was very beautiful.
The Okusa Mountain Plum Garden in Hamamatsu City was inspired by a deep love of nature and the owner's desire to share its beauty with the community. I had the chance to chat with the owner. He dreamed of creating this place since high school in the 1960s. With a passion for horticulture and a commitment to preserving local flora, he wanted to create a garden where people could enjoy the beautiful plum blossoms and feel close to nature. He cultivated plum trees and various branches of different shapes, making them look like dragons.
The garden has many paths where you can walk and enjoy the view. There are rows of plum trees on both sides, and you can take your time to admire the flowers. It’s a great place to relax, take photos, and enjoy the fresh air. If you want to rest, there are benches in the garden where you can sit and think or just enjoy the scenery. It’s a quiet place, so you can feel calm and away from the noise of the city. The garden is very family-friendly, with children enjoying the garden as well.

The best time to see the plum blossoms is from late February to early March. That’s when the trees are in full bloom. But this year, the flowers bloomed later than usual. When you visit, you should wear comfortable shoes, the garden is large, so make sure you wear shoes that are easy to walk in. Take your time, don’t rush through the garden. It’s a place to relax, so enjoy the flowers and the peaceful atmosphere.
