Evangelion train at Tenryu-Futamata Station

Last weekend I had a chance to visit Tenryu Futamata station to see the Turntable train tour. I bought a Day-Pass ticket East route toward the Kakegawa side at Shin Hamamatsu station. The ticket costs ¥1,480 for Adults (Jr.Highschool and up),  ¥740 for Elementary students, and free for kindergarten kids and younger.

The tickets look so cool with the Japanese anime Evangelion as the theme. Buying a day-pass ticket can also get free Evangelion train postcards.

I took a train from Shin Hamamatsu station to Nishikajima, the last station on the Entetsu line. From there, I change to Tenhama line (or as the Japanese called it "Tenhama-sen") and get off at the last station, Tenryu-Futamata Station.

After checking the time schedule for the Turntable tour, I bought the tickets, which cost 250yen if you take a train to the station. Or 350yen if you don't take a train to the station. Unfortunately, when I participated in the turntable tour, the Railroad History Museum was under renovation and could not be seen. The renovation will be done by the of this month, and visitors can see the renovated Railroad History Museum at the beginning of October.

I was lucky enough to see the purple Evangelion theme train being turned using a turntable because you can't really choose the train.

Although it is not well known, this "Turntable/Railway History Museum Tour" is held every day.
Anyone can participate by gathering in front of the ticket gate of Tenryu Futamata Station on the Tenryu Hamanako Line. This area is closed to the public except for the tour participants.

After receiving a brief explanation in front of the station's ticket gate, the tour guide will take us to go through the side of the platform from the ticket gate to the back of the station.
Walk along the railroad track and visit the elevated water tank.
This water tank is a facility that supplied water to steam locomotives in the Steam Locomotive era.

Right next to the Tenryu Futamata station, there is a Japanese restaurant. One of their unique menus is Futamata train curry. It is shaped like a train, with a short railway made of mayonnaise. Adults and kids love this dish.
