Mount Fuji Campground Fumotoppara

Summer is often identical with outdoor activity, like camping, BBQ and playing in the water.

My family have been wanting to go camping for a long time. After browsing several camp grounds, we decide to go camping in Fumotoppara, in Fujinomiya city.

Fumotoppara open all seasons, not only in the summer. Although it gets really cold in winter and might be snowy too.

It was an amazing experience. On a clear sunny day, you can see a full view of mount Fuji.

At night, the campground looks so beautiful with lights from colorful tents.
Fumotoppara is 2.5 hours drive from Hamamatsu.
During Corona pandemic, you can only make online reservation on their homepage.
Check in is at 8:30AM, but cars would already queuing since 5AM.
Before we enter the campground area, a staff was checking our body temperature to prevent the spread of Corona virus.

The campsite is just a huge open space, it has no borders, so we can choose our own location and then set up tent anywhere we like. But of course, while maintaining social distance with the other tents. We choose a place close to the main toilets.

They give each car a map, with letter marking the area for reference, there is no sign or border on campsite.  There are rules and restriction to be followed. One of them is that you're not allowed to fly drone, which is kind of disappointing for me because I was hoping to be able to fly my drone.
Fumotoppara campsite has a public bath and shower, it’s open from 1pm – 10pm.
During Corona pandemic, the numbers of people taking shower is limited to 6 people at a time.

As shown on the picture below, put your footwear on the shoes marking sign. If all the signs were filled in, you have to wait until someone is done.

In the common area, there's a waterhole for kids to play. It is located behind the main toilets and sinks to wash your cutlery. Washing dirty BBQ grill in the sink is not allowed.

Make sure to check on the weather forecast before you go. Although the weather can change suddenly. At night the temperature dropped a few degree. Also make sure to bring blankets or a warm sleeping bag, even if you think it's a hot summer day.

When we went there, it was very cloudy and foggy, we barely can see the silhouette of mount Fuji.

The staffs are very friendly and helpful, they tried their best to make our stay enjoyable.

After a rainy day, the ground became soft and not completely flat because of cars tracks.

Fumotoppara staffs drive a road roller vehicle around to flatten the ground.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a tent, you can also rent tent and BBQ equipment.

Their shop, shape like a blue barn also sells fire wood and even meat to grill.

They also provide bicycle and Segway rental as recreation around the campsite.

On their official website, there is a live camera for you to check the view before you go.

Make sure to bring home your own trash. They provide a place to throw away your combustible trash for a 100 yen fee.
