Hamamatsu Zoological Garden

This time I got a chance to visit Hamamatsu Zoo with my family. Hamamatsu Zoo is by the Lake Hamana with a wonderful natural environment.

Hamamatsu Zoo is a good place to teach children about various animals. In front of the cage, there is a board with the animal's information and origin. There are more than 400 animals from 120 species are bred in the Hamamatsu zoo.

If you come around midday, you can see the feeding animal by the staff. It is very interesting.

Hamamatsu zoo has the largest collection of primates among zoos in Japan including the Western Lowland Gorilla and Sumatran orangutan.

Proud of the extensive exhibition contents such as lions and tigers, polar bears, and black leopards.

There are facilities such as a mini-safari-style large field with giraffes, zebras, and ostriches.

There is also a petting zoo or Fureai area for kids to interact with animals, and konchukan (insects display facility).

From November 2,2020 to February 28,2021 Hamamatsu Zoo is renovating some parts of the area for Life Fureai (Petting zoo) Zone.
During this period of time, it is not possible to enter the zoo from the main gate of Hamamatsu City Zoo due to construction work, customers who are entering the adjacent "Hamamatsu Flower Park" can enter the zoo using the common gate connecting the Zoo and Flower Park. <Only Hamamatsu Flower Park admission ticket is required>
The admission fee is 500 yen (with a shopping ticket for 300 yen that can be used only at Hamamatsu Flower Park), junior high school students and younger are free.
