So I downloaded PayPay app on my iPhone and told my partner who is not Japanese to do it, too. But unfortunately the app is only available on Japanese app store. And even if you are using Japanese app store, it is not easy for foreigners to start with filling up the bank information or finding out the other payment. But once you can get it started, the payment is very easy and 5000 yen campaign is big deal for any foreign citizens in Hamamatsu. Please find someone (friend or family) to help you and get this good deal. This is a tax subsidy project for the citizens of Hamamatsu City.

My partner downloaded it anyway. We searched how to download from the app store in different region. And if you use an Alipay user, you can use it with QR code.

This article is a little old. But still you can check about PayPay system from the link below in English.

Japanese mobile pay service PayPay offers new, easy-to-use cashless payment system

I personally wish that this system could be "really" easy-to-use for everyone. There's a long way to go. 👎😑
