Autumn on a train

Autumn, it's that time of the year where we can enjoy the changing color of leaves, it marks the transition from summer to winter. Before the weather gets too cold, let's enjoy beautiful Momiji (fall leaves).

This time, recommended by a friend, we decided to take a local Oigawa railway train journey and enjoy the scenery along the Oigawa River.

Our journey began in Senzu station, which is about a 1 hour 40 minutes car ride from Hamamatsu. To go to Senzu station by train, take the JR Tokaido line to Kanaya station, then change to Oigawa line to Senzu station. From Senzu station, we take a train to Okuoikojo station on the Southern Alps Oigawa line.

Okuoikojo station was selected as Chubu's best 100 stations. The view surrounding Okuoikojo station was spectacular.

One of the places our train passing by is Nagashima dam. The Nagashima Dam Reservoir is a popular attraction for canoeing, fishing, and camping.

Senzu station is popular among Japanese little kids because it's the home to three Thomas the Tank Engines steam locomotives. On Thomas train day out, you can get a ticket to ride Thomas steam locomotive. An exclusive experience only at Senzu station.
