Hamamatsu Air Park will take you TO THE SKY

One of the best places in Hamamatsu to bring small children is Air Park JASDF and is interesting for adults too. Best of all the entrance was free. Free parking on the premises too.

There are simulators where you can pretend to be a pilot trying to fly a fighter jet. If you like airplanes or military stuff, you’ll love the place!

The above photo is a F-2 jet fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, which was developed as a successor to the F-1 fighter. We made our first flight in 1995 and started deploying troops in 2000.

This military airplanes museum is very educational and fun for all ages. A wonderful collection of JASDF aircraft, uniforms, and equipment. Being able to walk through the aircraft hanger with well-preserved old and new jet fighters was a fun experience. I recommend visiting if you are in the area.

Visitors can try a jet fighter pilot's uniform and sit in the pilot seat of a jet. Boarding reservations are accepted at the reception desk in front of the simulator. And will be stopped accepting applications as soon as the slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance reservations are not accepted.

I recommend you make time to watch a short documentary movie at the All-Sky Theater. You can enjoy the powerful images flowing in the 15m diameter dome-shaped theater. The scenery at an altitude of 20,000 feet that stretches out in front of you is sure to be impressive!
A ticket is needed to enter the theater, the ticket is free of charge.
Currently, as part of measures against infection with the new coronavirus, the number of simultaneous visitors and the number of screenings in the theater are being limited. The staff was kind, engaging, and very helpful.

Make sure to pick up a brochure about the  Air Park, it came with a DIY paper airplane.

As always, a trip to the museum is not complete without visiting the museum shop.
