Magomegawa River Waterside Park, a place to unwind with nature.

Before the state of emergency in Shizuoka ken, my friends and I had a picnic in a park nearby. The park is called Magomegawa River Waterside Park.

There is a small stream running thru the park, where kids can play in the water and catch some fish. The park is quite popular among residents in the central district of Hamamatsu city.

Around the beginning of summer, the park becomes a lively open space where kids can catch river shrimp, pond loaches, and medaka/Oryzias (a genus of ricefishes native to fresh and brackish water in Asia), and big-scaled redfin (also known as the Japanese dace). The place where there is little flow and aquatic plants is a great place to catch shrimp. It's a park where everyone cherishes the feelings of catch and release.

There is no playground set in the park. Families come here to have a picnic, but BBQ is not allowed, and be sure to take your trash home with you.

Even children as young as the age of 2 can play in the river because of the water depths below their knees, making it easy for small children to play and have fun.

The water in Magomegawa park is spring water that joins the Magome River via a mountain stream.

It's a park that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. A group of elderly people often comes to this park to play croquet.

The park is located right in the middle of the resident's area in central Hamamatsu. Here's a Google map link of the location https://goo.gl/maps/dg4rAyJisq3B7d7g6  Please visit the park after the state of emergency in Shizuoka prefecture has been lifted, while maintaining social distancing and always wear your mask.
