About 40 minutes by car from Hamamatsu City. A place called Awagatake, which mount Kakegawa and Shimada, is a popular hiking course with a spectacular view of the tea plantations and Suruga Bay.
It takes about 1 hour (2.6 km) one way from the trailhead to the summit. The sidewalks are well maintained and easy to walk, and it is a good distance to walk while chatting.
I arrived at the summit pleased and tired. There is a very nice place on this mountaintop called "Kapposhi Terrace", which opened two years ago.
It is still a new facility, with light meals, drinks, and a terrace where you can relax, a perfect resting place to heal the tiredness of hiking.
Also, the view from up there is magnificent and superb. It's a reward for those who have worked hard to climb the mountain.
When the weather is nice please try hiking to refresh yourself, before the rainy season comes.
